Just a short time ago we told you how waiting out filing your court case could lose you your rights as you may miss your start date with the Connecticut statute of limitations. That problem is temporarily no longer an issue. Thanks to the latest Connecticut Covid-19 order, (see Paragraph 2(e) of this Order), issued just this Friday, statutes of limitations are suspended pending further notice.
That does not mean you should ignore your case though! Many things need to take place before a case is served on the opposing party and filed with the court. Most of those things can be done even under the “Stay at Home” Order requirement.
When the statute of limitations suspension is removed you do not want to find yourself with not enough time to investigate your problem so that a full and proper claim for your damages can be made. There may be hidden components to your case you did not understand. For instance, your claim may not be just a breach of contract but may also include fraud or misrepresentation, which have a shorter time to bring your lawsuit than simple breaches. Fraud damages can be much higher than contractual damages. You can’t claim that fraud damage though if you do not do so in time. Protect your legal rights while we all continue to protect our persons.
